Journey to Insight
“Insight” invites you to enter deeply into nature’s form and beauty. Here you will see more than what the subject looks like, you will see what the image has to say. The goal of my conceptual photography is to guide the viewer from the obvious to the abstract; and through observation make visible what is invisible to the casual observer. As an artist I enjoy the creative process from concept to presentation. “Insight” has been a joyride through camera, computer, printer and presentation.
I begin the journey with a studied observation of what and how to photograph, and then follow the path into the digital darkroom and on to the magical moment of print making and framing. Much thought and preparation go into the details of a fine art photograph and I stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before to appreciate the quality of light, the importance of composition and the value of an image to communicate an emotion. I have been influenced by the photographic artistry of Dorothea Lange, Edward Weston, Julia Margaret Cameron, Robert Mapplethorpe, Joyce Tenneson and Imogen Cunningham.
I hope you will enjoy these images and discover for yourself the hidden message within the lines and form of nature’s beauty. Please linger and see what the images have to say. Like the pollinators, we are drawn to the flower’s color, fragrance and its beauty. But, when the color is softened and the form invites us inside, then the flower has a language all its own. The flower will speak to us softly and whisper the message God has for us to hear.
Enjoy Life and ART.
